Hike for Brighter Futures

I am fundraising for brighter futures

I am taking on the Hike for Brighter Futures, an 8 day hike that takes place in a remote section of the Great Wall outside Beijing to raise money for Barnardos Australia.

Every child deserves to feel safe and have a secure upbringing. But right now in Australia, too many children are being left behind. Barnardos Australia put children and young people at the centre of everything they do. We’re there when they need us most, helping to build safer homes, stronger communities, and brighter futures. Every child. Every opportunity. Every time.

Please help me reach my fundraising target by giving what you can - everything helps! The more people that support Barnardos, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family.

Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!

Why I’m Taking on the Hike for Brighter Futures

Tuesday 23rd Sep

Later next year, I’ll be stepping far outside my comfort zone to take on the Hike for Brighter Futures – an 8-day trek through a remote section of the Great Wall outside Beijing. It’s a big physical challenge, but more importantly, it’s a chance to raise much-needed funds for Barnardos Australia.

Barnardos is an organisation that puts children and young people at the centre of everything they do. Their work is about creating safer homes, stronger communities, and brighter futures for children who are experiencing some of the toughest circumstances. Children are our future, and supporting them to grow up safe, supported, and given every opportunity matters more than anything.

Why This Cause Matters to Me

Although Barnardos wasn’t part of my personal journey growing up, I know firsthand the life-changing impact of early intervention and support. Without it, I don’t know where I would be today. Having the right guidance at the right time helped me turn my life in a positive direction and gave me the foundation to build the future I have now.

That personal experience inspired me to dedicate my career to supporting children, young people, and families. I’ve had the privilege of working as a Youth Support Worker at Barnardos, seeing firsthand the incredible work they do. Today, I’m a Family Services Case Manager at St Vincent de Paul Society, where I continue to walk alongside families who are facing challenges, helping them access the support and stability they need.

Every day, I see the power of early intervention and how the right support can change the trajectory of a child’s life. It can be the difference between cycles of hardship continuing or a child finding the stability, care, and opportunities they need to thrive.

How You Can Help

Taking on this trek is a personal challenge, but the real goal is much bigger than me. It’s about raising funds so Barnardos can continue their vital work across Australia — work that ensures every child is given the chance for a brighter future.

Every child. Every opportunity. Every time.

I’d be deeply grateful for your support. You can help in two simple but powerful ways:

  1. Donate — Every contribution, big or small, makes a real difference.

  2. Share — Spreading the word helps raise awareness and brings in more support for this important cause.

Together, we can help ensure no child is left behind. Thank you for your generosity and for walking alongside me on this journey.

Thank you for supporting vulnerable Aussie children
